Meet the Snakes

IN THIS ARTICLE

Every snake on this page has a name, a personality, and a story. Some have been with us for years. Some are new. Each one has taught us something different about what it means to keep these animals well.

    OUR SNAKES

    Hoggy

    WITH US SINCE 2017
    Male
    Normal Het Albino

Hoggy is the original. He was our first western hognose snake and he's been here longer than anyone else, which gives him a certain quiet authority that the younger ones simply haven't earned yet.

He's an easy animal to be around. Calm, unhurried, and genuinely food motivated in that reliable, uncomplicated way that makes feeding day straightforward every single time. He handles well too, though he has one particular quirk: move past his terrarium too quickly and he'll startle. Approach slowly and he's completely unbothered. He just likes to know what's coming.

    Bajsa

    WITH US SINCE FEBRUARY 2020
    Female
    Albino Het Snow

Bajsa came to us from Bologna, Italy, and she arrived with an appetite that immediately made her name inevitable. In our language, Bajsa is essentially an affectionate term for someone who loves food above all else, and she has lived up to it every single day since.

Her coloration is striking even by albino standards. She comes from an extreme red line, which gives her a warm, vivid orange base that has only deepened as she's matured, but what really sets her apart is her belly. Deep orange and red spots scattered across the underside, rich and saturated in a way that catches you off guard the first time you see it. In the terrarium she appears calm and unhurried, right up until the moment you reach in, at which point she turns toward you with a speed that still catches us off guard after all these years. She also has strong opinions about things she doesn't like, and she expresses them loudly. The hissing is theatrical but committed.

    Albi

    WITH US SINCE FEBRUARY 2020
    Male
    Albino Het Snow

His full name is Albert, but nobody calls him that. Albi came from the same breeder as Bajsa and shares her extreme red genetics — which shows in his coloration, warm and vivid in the same way hers is. As a pairing they've produced some beautiful animals together, including our snow Nimbus.

He has a bit of an attitude. Not aggressively so — more the quiet confidence of an animal that knows exactly what he thinks and isn't particularly interested in pretending otherwise. When he's not in the mood for something, he makes it known. When he is in the mood, he's a pleasure to work with. It adds to his charm rather than subtracting from it, and we've come to appreciate the honesty.

    Romeo

    WITH US SINCE May 2023
    Male
    Arctic Conda PH Albino

Romeo is our model. Literally. He's the snake on the front page of this site, and he earns the distinction. His Arctic Conda genetics give him a striking, graphic quality that photographs beautifully, and he seems entirely aware of this fact.

He came from Verona in 2023, and the name suited him from the moment we chose it. He has opinions about people walking past his terrarium and he expresses them with a directness that's hard to ignore. Get him out and onto your hands, though, and he transforms completely — calm, curious, and genuinely pleasant company. The terrarium dramatics stay in the terrarium.

    Julija

    WITH US SINCE may 2023 ♰ 2026
    Female
    Arctic Conda

Julija came from Verona the same year as Romeo, and she was everything you'd want in a hognose — gentle, fearless, and always ready to eat no matter what. She loved her cave hide and rarely came out except for meals, but she never once showed stress or defensiveness. Just a quiet, good-natured animal who got on with things.

She was a pleasure to handle too — calm from the beginning, never dramatic, never difficult. The kind of snake that made you forget handling was even something that needed to be learned.

She fought harder than most would have, and for longer than anyone expected. Something was wrong inside her that couldn't be fixed, and she kept eating and kept going right until near the end. That stubbornness — that quiet refusal to give up — was very much her.

You can read her full story here.

    Nimbus

    WITH US SINCE July 2023
    Female
    Snow

Nimbus is Bajsa and Albi's daughter, and she inherited the best of both of them — the coloration, the presence, and just enough personality to keep things interesting.

She hatched during a storm. The name wasn't planned but it was immediately obvious, and it suits her completely. Snow white with the faintest patterning, she's one of those snakes that makes people stop and look twice.

She's still young and still growing into herself, but she's already one of the most visually striking animals in the collection.

    Diamond

    WITH US SINCE May 2025
    Female
Super Arctic Super Conda Het Albino

Diamond arrived in early 2025 and immediately established herself as one of the most visually extraordinary animals we've kept. Super Arctic Super Conda is a combination that produces something genuinely unusual — the pattern reduction and color modification together create an appearance that's hard to describe and easier to just show.

She's as calm as she looks. Rarely makes a sound, tolerates handling without drama, and goes about her life with a quiet self-possession that makes her a pleasure to have around. For an animal this visually striking, the personality is refreshingly uncomplicated.

    Hopper

    WITH US SINCE July 2025
    Female
    Normal 50% Het Albino

Hopper is Bajsa and Hoggy's daughter, hatched in the summer of 2025, and she has her mother's appetite and her father's calm temperament — which is a particularly good combination.

She came to us with a story already. She refused every feeding attempt for three months after hatching, recovered from a respiratory infection in her first winter, and came through all of it without losing the curious, handleable nature she showed from the very beginning. She's comfortable with handling, enthusiastic about food, and completely unbothered by most things.
